On an invariably chilly evening in November, people flock from all around the East end of Newcastle to see the free fireworks display which takes place on the grassy area at the bottom of Warwick Street, known locally as the city stadium, and seems to attract bigger crowds year on year. This in turn puts pressure on the organisers to deliver a louder, brighter, more explosive (and expensive) spectacle than the year before, but you don’t hear us complaining. If you’re looking for a local Bonfire Night celebration, this is the one to go to.
The fireworks display is a community event organised by local volunteers (not the council) so if you’ll be popping along on the night please donate generously either.
