Magic Summer Story Club | Seven Stories

Date(s): 25 July - 31 August

Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books, is running a Wizards and Witches Summer Story Club for 7-10-year-olds, from the 25th of July to the 31st of August, and is now available to book on sevenstories.org.uk or by calling 0300 330 1095.

Over the course of three days, children will explore the world of witchcraft and wizardry in some of their favourite stories, and even create some of their own. Working with new friends and our lively Story Catcher team, they’ll be busy drawing characters, writing stories, crafting wands, playing, and getting out in the sun to explore the magic of nature and history in Ouseburn Valley. Packed Lunches are also available to book.

This year’s Summer Story Club is inspired by their Level 5 Wildwoods Gallery, built around the fictional magical worlds of Hogwarts, Narnia, Discworld, The Wizards of Once, and His Dark Materials. Participants will have the opportunity to explore these and many others whilst making friends and building literacy, art and creative skills. They might find their new favourite book along the way.

Alongside it, the rest of the summer programme will run throughout the building, including Daily Storytimes, crafts sessions and the popular early year’s events, Story Stompers (for ages 2-3) and Super Story Explorers (for ages 3-6).

Seven Stories is based in a beautiful listed building over seven storeys in Ouseburn, in the heart of Newcastle. It has an extensive collection of work by more than 250 authors spanning over 100 years of children’s literature, including Enid Blyton, Chris Haughton, Philip Pullman, Eva Ibbotson and Judith Kerr. The team delivers extensive programming in schools and in the community, and the visitor centre is open to the public for free from 10 am to 5 pm every day (closed on Wednesdays during term time).
